12 volts to replace 3EH 6 volt

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has tried putting in two 12 volt automotive batteries to replace the 3EH batteries on a 66 series farmall. Was wondering whether they will fit where the 6 volts were? Seems like the 3EH batteries just don't last.
