Bill, I believe that 65lb. was the amount of torque required on the old head gaskets. The new gaskets furnished by Case IH suggest 85 lb torque, starting with the middle bolts and working outward side to side in 10lb increments up to 40lbs, then 5lb increments thereafter to 85lbs. Once at 85lbs, go back over each bole twice more at 85 lbs. As to your Mag timing, Make sure your timing mark on the flywheel is set at TDC on compression stroke of #1 cylinder. The rotation should be the same direction as the motor runs. Ease up to the timing mark, being careful you don"t have to back up. At that point, the mag should not have clicked. When you are satisfied that this condition exists, remove the Mag cap and verify that the rotor is pointing to #1 position. This should be approximately between 1:00 and 2:00 when viewed from back to front of the Mag. If that position is verified, then go to the next step. If not, remove the rotor, and the 2 screws holding the rotor shaft plate to the mag, then align the gears so that when you relocate the rotor shaft that the rotor will then point to the correct position. There should be alignment marks on the gears, but not necessarily. Then you go to the next step. Loosen the mag and rotate the top toward the engine, then slowly rotate away from the motor until it clicks. Voila, you should be in perfect time. Your ignition wiring should go clockwise of the mag cap from #1 to #1 plug. Next to #3, Next to #4, Next to #2.
