I was wondering if our IH 454 Diesel is capable of handling a front end loader. We've inherited from my Grandpa, and I don't have a manual for it. Lots of hours (4597). It seems to be a good strong tractor other than a healthy appetite for either in cold weather & 4th (hi or low) gear not working. After doing some reading on the forums here, I'm wondering if it doesn't need the linkage adjusted. As far as the either is concerned it looks like there is some sort of automatic either injecting system on the engine. I don't know if this is an add-on or if it's original. Any advice is appreciated... Here's my questions/concerns about a loader... 1. I've noticed some ports beneath the right rear fender/running board. Are these the remote hydraulics that is needed for running a front end loader? 2. Is the hydraulic system capable enough (the 3pt hitch has great response) to handle a loader, or would I be dissatisfied because of the arms raising very slow? 3. What's a good loader to buy? I've looked at a Bush Hog brand on Ebay ($3899 + $499 joystick & $299 shipping) I know this is probably more than the worth of the tractor, but I don't want to sell it, and if I'm gonna keep it I want to use it. Are there other brands that anyone would recommend (ie Quike, Buhler etc.)? Thanks in advance, Joe
