SMTA battery drain

My SMTA has been converted over to 12 volts with a Delco S10 alternator, standard 3 wire. I wired the system according to Bob M"s diagram and it works well, but I get a small amount of battery drain over time. The drain seems to be through the Battery wire to the alternator. I think the drain is very slight but over time will drain my battery so the tractor won"t start. What is the best solution? Would you recommend a battery disconnect switch or a switch in the power wire to the amp meter that supplies over all power?
