300U PTO Noise

I was mowing with a 3pt mower the other day and my PTO started making this incredible noise. I shut it down to see what the problem was and when I fired it back up the noise got louder and it eventually quit working(PTO). I was using the Torque Amp while I was mowing. Do you think this had anything to do with the noise? The noise was coming from right under the shifter in the transmission. It moves fine it just does not engage the PTO any more. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!
