560- locked up-trans?

Was using the "ole 560" yesterday to pull a log out of the woods. I lifted the log with the 3pt hitch and dragged it out, dropped it in place and went to lift the other end of the log to block it. All went well the 3pt worked fine but when I went to go forward the tractor would not move. It now is stuck in (what I beleive is) 3rd gear. When I let out the clutch it kills the engine. The engine starts and runs fine but no movement, and I can't get into any other gear, I fact the shft lever will not move. I tried to pull with the bobcat but only broke the chain. Seems frozen all of a sudden. Any Ideas on what might be wrong and how to fix it. Any help is appreciated- Thanks
