IH 1066 Reverse and Parking Brake Problem

Hello. I have a 1972 IH 1066 Tractor, non T/A, and recently I have been having problems with the tractor when I put the shifter in reverse. The tractor SOMETIMES jumps out of gear as I am backing up and makes a horrible grinding sound. If I back up slow or fast it doesn't matter. If I keep my hand on the shifter it seems to help it to not jump out of gear but SOMETIMES it will anyhow.
Also, the parking brake used to hold but lately it seems that it is failing so much that I never park the tractor on a hill. I would appreciate any ideas about what is wrong with the tractor and how to fix it. Thanks again. Mitch.
