Looks like no one answered your frame width question. This is an apple and orange thing, but maybe it will inspire someone to do some measuring. I am comparing a Super H to a 460, not an SWD 6 to a 560, or late model TD 6. The widest point of my 460 C221 block is 13 inches, excluding the place for the dipstick. The distance between the frame rails on my Super H is 15 inches, on my M about 16 1/2 inches (too much in the way to get a straight shot). This means that the C221 will fit between the frame rails of a Super H, or an H for that matter, unless the dipstick housing is in the way. Surely someone can measure between the frame rails on a 560. I bet a D282 will fit between the rails on your SWD 6, but someone needs to measure. Someone can (and probably will) correct me, but I think the dimensions of the block, from the C221 to the D301 are about the same -- that one should get a response). From what you said it looks like the start on gas 4 cylinder diesel was used about 10 years longer in the TD 6 than in anything else.
