I did both my H and the SMTA. Fortunately I did the H first and found that lining up that bull gear with the axle was a little (lot) tricky. Now the SMTA bull gear is about twice the weight of the H. So I made a wooden spacer block, just the size of the space between the gear and the bottom of the case. Wedged it in there before pulling the axle. It took about 10 seconds to slide that axle and housing right back in there, as the bull gear was still there perfectly aligned. I'd replace both inner and outer. You can tell if there is wear there if you get a "lurch" when you apply the brakes. Gordo
