I have an interesting problem that doesn't make sense! An early international Australian model Aos6 will only move forward in top gear only when the shifter is in supposed nuetral! It appears to "feel" like it will go into each of the gears but when the clutch is raised the engine stalls and not move forward (or reverse) in any gear. You can feel it go into each of the gears but it will only go forward in top gear when in Nuetral posistion.I had drove it into posistion to do some tuning to the engine about two weeks ago - no problems engaging gears and all worked ok - but after some general engine tuning (tappets, spark plugs, points) - nothing to do with gearbox I have this situation.Pulled shift lever out of gearbox and the sectors appear to work. Added some gear oil, in case it didn't like being in the open, to no effect.I know the engine work has nothing to do with the problem and may be due to the tractor sitting in the open for about 4 weeks (maybe?)Anyone have ANY idea?

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
