I have a 1941 Farmall A with a 6 volt generator and a coil/distributor ignition system. I am using a 4 terminal regulator mounted on the generator. I am not getting a charge on the amp meter when I run the tractor. I have wired the tractor as follows: 1) Field on gen to F on reg 2) Amature on gen to Gen on reg 3)Bat on reg to positive terminal (discharge side on face) on the amp meter 4)L from reg to ignition switch 5)Wire from starter to negative (charge side on face) of the amp meter When I pull the ignition switch the amp meter reads 5 amps on the discharge side. When I start the tractor, the meter reads about 3 on the discharge side of the meter. Idle speed does not make a difference. I would think I should see a reading of charge on the meter. I have a new coil, points and condensor. The regulator is new. I have no lights installed on the tractor and I have not wired anything to the light switch. I was told by the shop the generator is ok. Do I have a generator problem? Appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. Gerald.
