One of the sure ways to tell if the oil pressure regulator is stuck is to use a gauge with a 150psi full scale mark then running from idle to high idle watch the gauge if it goes to -lets say- 80psi at idle, then as RPM increase it continues to rise proportional to RPM and never levels out, I would suspect the pressure regulator. If it goes to the 80psi then climes to 86 or some specific number, and levels off, I believe it may be an agressive spring in the regulator, but not stuck. If it has been the way it is for years (and not stuck) I would not fix it. If it is stuck, I would fix it for sure as there is the possibility of eroding bearing material, and excessive wear on the drive gear and pump. JimN
