confused about farmall M carb adjustment

i have a farmall M that seems to run rich. fouls out two plugs after running for a while, maybe a couple hours depending on job, but it's black soot, plus i have a slight bit of smoke out the stack. at any rate i've been doing some searching on adjusting the carb and cant find much, is there not just the idle screw towards the top of the carb and the main screw towards the bottom, other then taking it apart, which i dont have time to do right now, i just want to get it to stop fouling plugs so often and thoght i would start with this.
