I reringed my mower M about fifteen years ago. It was fouling out the plugs. Since oil in the cylinders brought the compression up during compression test I didn't touch the head. I mean really didn't touch it. When I got it back together and started it, I was sick, still missing and running rough. Then I changed out the old fouled plugs and it has been great ever since. I put at least 800 to 1,000 hours on this tractor every year. It is the one the points spring broke on last week. It is using a little oil now, but not yet fouling the plugs. My belief: Modern oil, slow speed, last forever. The head has still not been worked and the old pistons and sleeves are still holding. I'm sure the partial rebuild has 10,000 hours on it. I like Band-Aids
