I have a 424 diesel. It is a great little machine, with plenty of very responsive power. The govener is really quick. I run a seven foot bush hog over pasture weeds with no problem. The high/low transmission feature allows you a maximum ground speed while maintaining lots of power at the hog. Mine is very fuel efficient. I love mine. Have a neighbor that has one without power steering and it's a brute to drive. good luck
