The more common item is worn and chiped teeth on starter drive and ring gear. Having said this it may work well a long time yet if you can tolerate the ocasional lock up. Another good way to free these up is loosen starter mounting bolts. Just back them off 1/4", you'll hear it click into place. When I was a teenager, everyone of my dad's Farmalls had a 3/4 end wrench in tool box. It was standard equipment. One is not always able to rock the tractor in high gear.
