Question on tractor A? C?

Hi I found this nice looking tractor it has a narow front end seat in the middle says C. And it has a small but pretty heavy draw bar and hitch. It has drum brakes. There is a battery box under the seat yet the battery sits just behind the touch control. It has live hyd. the motor serial says R A A M 334298.
it looks like the battery is where it belongs but why a battery box under the seat. The few cast codes I checked one on tranny top cover and an axle housing did not match either. Is this something someone put together with spare parts?
C with SA motor?
