I doubt if your 504 is a 12 volt conversion, it may be an alternator conversion. By 1962 the first year the 504 was built, all IH tractors except 140 and maybe Cub were 12 volt. Even the 460 and 560 were 12 volt. Is there power coming to your coil from the switch? Your best solution is use a test light, follow the wiring diagram in your manual to see where power has stopped.
