Careful folks you may be hotter than you think-I just received two new temp gauges for my A and IA from OEM. Catalog and confer with them says these are the right ones. Have the C logo and no arrow. Out of curiosity I got out my wifes candy thermometer and a pot of water to check the color band temps. First test surprised me so I went out to the shop and got my digital thermometer. Here is what I find: both new gauges read the same. Off the peg at 100 F, bottom of white 120 F, top of white 160 F, top of green 210 F, top of red 240 F (4500' elevation so had to add antifreeze to keep it from boiling). Remember that these are measuring the temp comeing back to the engine-coolest water in the system. The old one with the rusty face reads 20 degrees cooler aross the dial. I for one will be calling OEM back. The point is that the water temp comeing out of the engine is a lot hotter than the gauge shows and you would be boiling water at about mid scale on this gauge-still supposedly "in the green".
