The head gasket that C-IH sells fo the Super C is marked FELPRO. I put one in maybe a year ago and it held for a while, then began to seep antifreeze, so I did the job again. Second time I was very thorough - checked head and block for flatness, checked liner standout, throughly cleaned all surfaces, used copper spray, in proper sequence carefully torqued, then retorqued the head while hot. It held for a month or two, but now after setting for several weeks, it's seeping antifreeze again. Upon careful examination, the seepage seems to be coming through the fiber-like material that is sandwiched between the steel top and bottom layers of the gasket. I suppose with a leak of this nature, stop leak would fix it, but I don't think one should have to use stop leak with a new gasket. Any of you had this experience? Anybody know where to get a gasket that is not made up with the porus fiber material in the middle fo the sandwich? What brands of gaskets have worked and where did you get them? My C-IH dealer may get a couple of FELPRO's back!
