The problem most likely came from the shifting linkage in the fork area in the
transmission. I have seen this happen on later model IHs with worn and out of
adjustment linkage. The problem was corrected when the linkage and transmission
forks were moved during the inspection process. Yes, in time the problem will
reoccur. Always be real careful that the transmission is centered in neutral real good
to minimize this happening.
