Water pumps how to

Have an IA that turns out to have thinwall sleeve kit and popup pistons. Gets pretty hot under load for any period of time. Radiator was boiled out and all tubes are clear. I saw posts on putting a water pump from an SC on a B and would like to do it for this IA. The gasket is the same number so I know it will bolt on. What am I going to run into with belts and the generator? Etc. Did the SC also have a thermostat and, if so, will the upper housing fit?
