The valves are operated by a pressure demand signal from the third port in the valve. If the valve (any) is sending the pressure signal, the system will pressureize (as it is). this causes the deadheading as described in your post. It is not good. One of the valves is sending a wrong signal when it is centered. The diagram is important. Using a valve allows the pressure to be used, not deadheaded, thus the noise and laboring go away.. JimN
