On further inspection, part of my issue is also due to the actuating rod clearance to the auxil- iary valve housing; it is against it. I will take off the rod and bend it to get more clear-
ance, adjust the rod to the full length, stretch the pedal return spring to the max. and see if I can then lift the pedal (while turning left to right). Otherwise, I"ll still keep trying to break it loose to the dis-engaged position by hitting the shaft lever. Stay tuned.
