Magneto -v- coil and distributor

I have decided to take to coil and distributor off my H and put a magneto on there. To install it, it looks like a no brainer to me but???? I have set #1 to TDC and have pointed the rotor button to #1 cylinder and the other 3 in proper firing order. There are only 2 ways the distributor can slide in the slot 180 degrees from each other, and to me, it does not seem to make a difference as long as I get the rotor pointed in the right directon? Are there any secrets here that I am not seeing? TW
