M gear box fluid

OK, I posted before about this and got alot of great comments. Unfortunately, I have not been able to figure out where the level check for transmission fluid is. Some told me it is on the right side of the gear box (as you sit on the tractor) down by the brake pedal, a square plug that I should be able to get my finger in. The only plug that size is on the top of the deck just to the right of the vertical steering column where your right foot would be. It uses a 3/4 inch drive to get it open. The only thing I find on the right side is what appears to be a small bleeder valve on the bottom of the circular brake cover. Mine is a 1950 M. Could it be different that the others that have been mentioned here? Oh, my owners manual is on its way. Thanks
