If the battery was totally garbage and shorted out it was probably sucking up any juice that the generator was trying to put out. If the generator was working you could have disconnected the battery and started it by pulling it (if the generator was polarized). That statement just gave me an idea of what could be part of your problem. You may need to polarize the generator now that you have a good battery. I don't remember the process but it has been adressed here before. Good luck. Randy
