It often helps to have a coulter on the plow when plowing sod. A coulter is a straight disc that slices the sod just ahead of the plow. It should be directly in line with the shin of the plow bottom.
If you have one, it may need to be lower. If you don't have one, try a plow that does have one. Even if you have a coulter, it usually takes some experimentation to get it adjusted just right for each field and soil condition.
