I believe the deal about removing the belt pulley for field work was in the factory book. It applied mostly for the 10-20 which could have the pulley shut down and the pulley being heavy could brinnell the bearings if the tractor was on rough ground. I have a factory cover for the pulley shaft on my F-12. The belt pulley is in the furnace room because it has to stop when shifting and I wore a hole in my shoe stopping it for shifts.
