Years ago I had a valve stick in a f-20 after it setting over the winter. I broke the stem of the valve off trying to free it. Not wanting to spend any money for a head gasket set I opened the port hole in the side of the block dropped the piston out changed the valve with out pulling the head. On f-20"s with std. bore the sleeves are tapered, so the pistons can be installed and removed from the bottom with out using a ring compressor. I had an old timer tell me he put in a new set of rings in the field one time. I remembered that trick and used it on that valve. I hope this will help someone the the future. I"m getting old enough now the term old timer fits me. Please share your thoughts.
