On many 4 terminal Voltge Regulators (BAT FLD LOAD GEN) the Gen/Arm terminal is off on one side by itself or the bottom often unlabeled. On 3 terminal VR's the BAT ARM/GEN FLD are all side by side.
Its possible to use EITHER a 3 or 4 terminal VR n they both can work if wired correct.
BAT to load (not battery/starter) side of ammeter
ARM/GEN to geyys ARM post
FLD to gennys FLD post
LOAD feeds hot battery voltage up to the lights n ignition via a wire to their switches BAT input terminals
On a 3 terminal VR with no LOAD terminal, lights n ignition are fed off the ammeters Load terminal, same one that wires down to BAT on the VR. If you didnt use the 4 terminal L terminal the lights n ignition will still work if fed instead from the ammeters Load terminal, but if I had a 4 terminal VR and the tractor previously used a 3 terminal or cutout before, I would remove the lights n ignition voltage feed wires from the ammeter n instead wire feed them off the LOAD terminal on a 4 terminal VR
