Congrats to Andrew! Qualifying for the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist designation is a lengthy process requiring a tremendous knowledge of shipboard characteristics well outside of ones own rating or job. At least when I went through the process umpteen years ago, my Commodore chaired my oral board and took no prisoners. As I remember, damage control, ship propulsion, and weapons systems were the major portions of the qualification. I'm sure Andrew will wear his "Waves 'N Blades" pin proudly and with honor.
