I put new sleeves, pistons, rings, etc in an A last summer. Found it stuck in Feb. Took the starter off and could move the flywheel backwards and then move the engine with a crank clockwise until it hit the "hard spot". I backed it off a few times, put WD 40 in the cylinders and after a few times of back and forth I could crank the engine. Put some more WD in and now it's stuck again. Not tight, can move it a little so I know I'll get it loose.
My question, what "builds up" on the cylinder walls to cause it to bind up? And will it hurt the rings to crank it past the tight spot? Then what can I do to keep it from sticking? I've rebuilt 4 other engines like this and have never had this problem. Thanks for comments.
