One easy way is to pull start it. If it has spark, it should run! It is possible to use an ohm meter on coil windings, but even then, proof is in the spark. not the readings. Look up magnetos in Google. there will be diagrams detailed enough to use an ohm meter. Make sure it has oil in the crankcase, and watch the gauge to be sure it gets pressure up. I would pull it W/O the Mag operating (shut off) until oil pressure was shown on the gauge. There is no reason to ruin a good engine If it needs to be primed. To prime, use as pump oil can and pump oil into the oilpressure gauge fitting hole. as it begins to be filling the passages, it will get harder to pump. Sometimes a small rubber tube is needed to get a seal at the oil gallery to oil can spout. JimN
