Just started mowing. My Super A with woods mower was running about 10 minutes total when I started to notice loss in power. Tractor was bogging down, gov. wasnt kicking in as should. Stoped the tractor and shut down mower. Tractor would only run at low RPM, I would move the throttle and no responce. Thought linkage was unhooked, I scanned the oil pressure gauge and it was barried on high. Even a low Idle, pressure was barried on high. Oil was creeping out of the oil filter houseing, and I noticed I blew a head gasket, water leaking out between the head and block. What can this be? I just changed the oil and filter 2 weeks ago and mowed 2 acres afterwards with no engine problems. This is a new tractor to me. I used detergent oil, straight 30 wt. If it had non detergent in it before, could the cleaning action of the new detergent oil have got some oil scum moved around and pluged up something? My book says there is a oil pressure regulator spring in the oil pump, should I tear down the pump and look at this spring? Any advice is appreciated. I hope I didnt ruin anything.
