I noticed a local used car dealer with a decent looking M on his lot. Has a wide front and what looks like a home made 3 point hitch. I"m thinking of selling my Farmall 300 so I thought I"d stop in and see what he had to say about the local tractor market. I asked if he had any interest and he said about 100 people. Said he had done his research and based on the wide front, 3 pt and the fact that it had been "restored" it was worth all of $3800. Said you can"t drive a trike on a hill and the restoration had been done "right" whatever that means. I said the wide front is nice unless you want to turn and he said the trike would break your arm if the tires hit something when the steering wheel spins. Stated it was a 1940 model and that restored M"s sold for $4K to $12K or something like that. I told him my 300 must be worth about $7000, when he mumbled something about he would buy it for $600. I didn"t bother to tell him the rims had been reversed and his tires were now on backwards as I walked out and he said $3800 firm. Guess I"ll stop in later in the week with my checkbook -- NOT! I guess for the right person maybe the price is not too bad, but I would sure want to know what the restoration entailed.
