Bought a 1466 a couple years back and the low side of the TA is out. Going to have her replaced, pump rebuilt/replaced, etc. But have a question in regards to using the TA.
In reading the countless posts, it is clear that the TAs should be swiftly moved between direct and low. But I'm a tad confused on the free wheeling part. I've read on this forum to prevent tractors with TAs from free wheeling when in low. Some have stated that some of the smaller TAs allow for free wheeling while TAs on larger units do not.
So back to this 1466....is free wheeling something to be concerned about on this model assuming it is adjusted correctly? If the TA on this model locks and doesn't cause the machine to literally free wheel, then all is good. But if it doesn't, I'm just wondering how you prevent free wheeling cause it is going to happen potentially when pulling, let's say, a silage wagon thru a hilly field. And to be frank, the cost of the TA itself, my labor/time, etc is going to be high and I don't want to be kicking myself down the road.
