Have you tried unbolting the outer bearing retainer and then driving it out?
Another, if it's still going to take driving instead of simply pulling or pushing, is to get a longer bolt to replace your retaining bolt. The one there is a 5/8" NF x 1-1/4". Get one about 1-1/2 to two inches long, thread it in all the way (so as not to bugger the threads) without the retaining washer and drive on the bolt head instead of the end of the axle. Bolts are much easier to come by than axles!
