Hi,
part of the steering on my dad's H failed a few days ago (right before the big storm we got a few days ago). The tractor has hydraulics that look like an add-on, and with the wide front, power steering (Was this standard? The Eaton cylinder looks quite new.)
The part that failed is a little coupling right after the power steering unit - visible in the photos below. The two pieces fit inside each other (with a spline?) and have stripped out.
Two questions. (1) Is this coupling standard, and if so, where can I find it. Should my local IH dealer have them on the shelf? (2) How in the world do I R&R this coupling? I can't figure out how to pull them apart/off the tractor. (I've already searched the archives and looked through the shop manual. The procedure doesn't seem clear yet.)
