Some people who are new to the Farmall Discussion Group may not realize that for many years, each new IH model was a refinement and improvement on the existing design introduced with the Letter Series tractors rather than a complete new design. The following is a list of the design evolution of each letter series through the end of that basic design. Most models were available in both Farmall and International versions while some were available only as Farmalls and some were available only as Internationals. Cub, to Cub 154 A and B, to Super A, to 100, to 130, to 140 C, to Super C, to 200, to 230, to 240 and 340, to 404 H and 4, to Super H and Super 4, to 300, to 330 and 350, to 460, to 504, to 544 M and 6, to Super M and Super 6, to 400, to 450, to 560, to 606, to 656, to 666, to 686 W9, to Super W9, to 600, to 650, to 660 There were many different models of both Farmalls and Internationals such as; high clearance, low profile, wheel, utility, industrial, orchard, narrow, and others, and may be some numbers I have not included.
