I just bought a 1948 IH farmall H and as any person wanting to sell a tractor would do the guy said everything works great! well i was born and raised a country boy but i never had a tractor. I am 30 yrs old bought a small place 17 acres and decided it was time..... i traded my big lawn tractor in on it and cash, then i bought a 3 point and installed it,and then a new brushhog ..............................................and wouldnt ya know it....... I got every thing installed checked my hydraulic fluid and it was very low so i was filling the hydrolic fluid and looked under neath of it and it started drizzling out almost as fast as i put it in ..... grrrr ! ....................................................im out of money now.............................................. Do ya have any advice for a guy getting ready to work on the hydraulic pump on my first tractor ?
I thought this wasnt supose to be more work than doing every thing by hand, but now i am behind on my mowing and i have to fix a tractor now ...

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
