I followed your advise and grounded the field post of the gen. The ammeter jumped to about 9 amps. Soooo I guess this brand new VR from Stieners is bad, right? I have the gen post on the bottom of the VR wired to the A post on the gen. The field post on the gen is wired to the field post on the VR and the BAT post on the VR is wired to the Ammeter post (Right side as viewed from the back of the guage). As told on this forum, since I am now using a VR and not a cut out, I went to a three position light switch which means the L post on the VR is no longer needed, therefore it is not wired to anything. Does all this sound correct to you? If so, I am fixin to find out if Stiener's stands behind what they sell. Thanks
