Ok, it turns out the coil WAS bad. It had a crack and was leaking oil. The parts store said that any 12 volt coil would work, but I should have a voltage "converter" (not regulator) to keep the coil and points from burning up. Well, it should follow that since I had 20+ hrs on the old coil, that one from one of my junk cars should do for a while (at least till planting is over) before it burns up. The same thing with coils from 2 different cars: It fires up strong every time, but continues to get weaker and weaker until I can't keep it running anymore; then will fire right up again like nobodys buisness! Every time. Confuses the heck outta me cause the coil WAS bad and the carb was just rebuilt and ran strong as ever yesterday until this all started, so that cant be it. I mean it does not matter what the operating temrature is anymore, and THESE coils stay cool and come out of vehicles where the coil was fine when they died. I hope someone has a clue, cause my head is getting raw from all the scratching! thanks in advance
