Suicidal Super C

my 1951 factory stock super c has a small problem of starting up like a dream... then diein within 3 minutes like a grasshopper hittin a windshield. i have already replaced the coil, did an entire tune-up kit, rebuilt carbeurator, an cleaned the gas tank... but it still has the problem, which just got worse. now there is no fire to the plugs, the coil will get really really hot, but no fire to/beyond the points, an yes they are set right. any help will be greatly appreciated
