What he said was if your coil has an external resistor, replace it with one that takes an external resistor. Same goes if it has an internal resistor. An external resistor is usually a ceramic block with a small coil of wire on one side, in the hot lead from the ignition switch to the coil. The parts store can help you get an internal or external resistor coil. Some coils have push on connections, no threads on the posts so you don't want one of those. Clean and paint your old coil. I have some tractors in regular use with the rear post IH coil. Those must be 40 years old, at least.
