Dave, Just in the process of doing the front upper bolster overhaul to my '44 H. After removing the lower bolster completely, remove the cotter key and large nut from ontop the 18 tooth half gear. Gently tap the shaft downward and it will come right out. (May want someone else there to help you catch it). From there you can remove the upper bolster pivotshaft thrust bearing, spacer, felt washer & retainer. Also, if needed, you can replace the upper bolster bushing-top. //FB
