Smoke At idle

After I finally got the old C running good again I have noticed that if it sets idling (hot) for a period it will start to smoke then when I throttle it up it will clear out. Also after shut down hot and restarted. At higher RPM or under load it does not smoke at all. Is this a valve train problem? Any cure short of pulling the head? Dad had not used it much if at all in the past couple of years and since he passed on I am trying to resurrect her for sentimental reasons. Also....it's oil pressure is very slow to come up after starting...acts like just a sluggish guage because it seems to fall very slowly after shutting off too.
