I removed the covers and checked the drive gear and the seasonal disconnect. The seasonal disconnect looks fine inside and works fine, the lever is just a bit out of whack. The drive gear does not seem to have any missing teeth but it rocks at least 3/4" back and forth without turning the engine and when I set the IPTO lever to the engaged position I can turn the shaft by hand very easily. When I turn the PTO 'forward', (the direction it would go under power) it makes a sound like a slip clutch, sort of a light thunk. When I turn it backward it clicks at the same rate as the thunk. I am guessing that the splines on the PTO drive gear behind the clutch are probably stripped, does that sound likely from the symptoms or is it something else? Are parts available for this problem and does it mean I need to split the tractor? Any advice will be much appreciated. Zach
