Topic of the day - rain caps?

Looks like the weather is bad over quite a bit of the farm belt. Thought it might be a good day for a discussion topic. Which direction should the rain cap open on the exhaust pipe? I find it interesting at the shows to see them pointing every direction: forward, rearward, left, right, and off at verious angles. I prefer opening to the rear. Goes under tree limbs a little easier. The only thing I don't like is it lets the black sooty water (as the muffler warms up) fall back all over the tractor hood. Does hurt anything, just looks nasty. Whats your opinion???
