I am a new tractor owner, our family has had Farmalls for years but I have never owned one myself.
I've been using it all winter plowing snow up here in the Colorado foothills.
It has been parked in the garage and this afternoon I noticed a bit of a pool under the front of the tractor. I looked at the fluid; it has some viscosity and smells a little bit like WD-40 or similar solvent/cleaner. Is this hydraulic fluid?
Before we purchased the tractor it had a Belden belly mower under it. I took that off and put the grading blade on the tractor. My guess is that having the tractor in 'snow plow' mode, I have used the hydraulic system more this winter than it has been used in the past 20 years.
How do I know that my hydraulic system is adjusted properly? How do I check the level on the system? What concerns should I have with a pool of hydraulic fluid on the floor?
